Description:

Raw Story seeks an energetic and resourceful Senior Editor to help lead a team in delivering speedy, high-volume coverage of breaking news in national politics, criminal justice, elections, social justice and extremism. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of covering news, with a minimum of 3 years of experience and a genuine interest in and familiarity with U.S. politics.

Raw Story is a round-the-clock, 7-day-a-week news operation and the successful candidate must be flexible to accommodate that. This is not a 9-5 job. In addition to editing responsibilities, the role will also involve some writing.

Key Requirements:

Proven ability to unearth new stories and explore unique angles on events and issues that have yet to be covered by mainstream media

In-depth knowledge and interest in the fast-paced breaking news cycle

Demonstrated strong news judgment, with at least three years of experience editing breaking news

Capability to handle a high volume of editing and writing

Familiarity with social media channels and effective story promotion

Proven ability to manage and nurture a team of ambitious writers and editors.
