Local News Now is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented reporter and editor to join our ten-person team in Northern Virginia. This is not an entry level position and applicants must have at least a year of professional experience to be considered, though more is preferred. Prior editing experience and existing local knowledge of the D.C. area is also preferred. Knowledge of how to use Wordpress, Tweetdeck, Google Analytics, Slack, Asana, Photoshop and other digital tools is desired but not required.
As our sites evolve and our company grows, additional skills may be beneficial. Please note if you have any of the following (optional) experience:
Multimedia production, including editing audio and video, publishing podcasts, etc.
Podcast hosting or other on-air broadcast experience
Creative work such as helping to write marketing campaigns, design apparel and other merchandise, etc.
Managing or assisting with the management of a local news membership service
Creating no-code automations and/or writing AI prompts
