Reporter - Part Time

The Republican-American, Sunday Republican and rep-am.com seek local news reporters for 25 to 30 hours a week covering our towns. This is all things local news: capture the events and profile the interesting people; cover the votes and question the candidates; report on the crashes and the fires; tell parents what’s happening in their local school, or drivers the latest project to fix their local roads. This is classic community reporting, providing readers with information nobody else will in the context of our ethical, accurate, engaging, award-winning news tradition. Journalism experience ideal; writing or editing experience of any kind a plus. Candidates must know or be willing to learn AP style, as well as shoot and file photos and post online. Schedule flexible and might change if news demands it (such as Election Day or for big events on your beat.) Target area for these positions is in Greater Waterbury and parts of Litchfield County. The successful candidate will believe in the importance of local news and want to be a source of reliable, timely information.
