Reuters is looking for a strong journalist to join its finance and markets breaking news team in Singapore. The breaking news team is at the heart of the financial industry and markets team. The team handles the daily news file, from snaps to market moves and updates, as well as stories aimed at media customers and consumers. This real-time role requires a deep understanding of financial markets and the industry.

About the Role

As our Asia Finance & Markets Breaking News Correspondent, you will:

Have strong writing skills, thrive in a breaking news environment and be keen on processes and market dynamics.

Be part of the markets team, where the main job is to monitor markets and write the flagship Forex and Global Markets daily reports. In addition, the person will help with monitoring trades, companies, and policies across Asia, with a heavy focus on China.

Be based in Singapore as part of a dedicated team of breaking news reporters and work closely with finance and markets colleagues in the broader team.

Be versatile across FX, stocks, cryptocurrencies, and bonds.

Report to the Asia breaking news editor for the finance and markets team.

About You

To be our Asia Finance & Markets Breaking News Correspondent​, you will likely have:

Deep understanding of financial markets, ideally across asset classes.

A strong interest in currency markets, bonds, and cryptocurrencies.

A proven track record in cultivating sources across trading floors, exchanges, and funds.

A strong work ethic, team spirit and excellent organisation skills.

Excellent writing skills.
