Reuters is seeking a journalist to join its Middle East Breaking News Hub operation.
The Hub is in charge of producing real-time news alerts and stories in in English and Arabic from a variety of sources, including TV broadcast, podcasts, social media and national news agency feeds, and works closely with reporters in the Gulf and across the wider Middle East to accurately break news for Reuters’ global audience of decision makers in business, media and politics.
This role will focus on Arabic-speaking countries and could be based in Dubai, Cairo or Beirut.
About the Role
As Middle East and North Africa Breaking News Correspondent, you will:
Focus on Arabic-speaking countries as part of our news operation across the Middle East.
Snap news clearly, accurately and quickly; write the first newsbreaks within 3 minutes of the alert.
Work under pressure in a very fast-paced environment.
Write breaking news alerts and newsbreaks from financial/energy statements, speeches, tweets, TV broadcast.
Deliver the news first to Reuters subscribers, consolidating our reputation as the world’s most influential news agency.
About You
To be Middle East and North Africa Breaking News Correspondent, you will likely have:
Excellent command of Arabic and English languages.
A strong understanding of the politics, social change and conflicts at play within the Middle East.
A solid knowledge of the energy and financial industries.
An ability to work under pressure, and work early or late shifts.
An ability to work with a large team across the Middle East and North Africa.
