The successful candidate will break news ahead of the competition and dig out market-moving exclusives and investigative stories on the political power of the coal industry, transition strategies of national utilities, M&A activity, and the region’s complex relations with Russia, its main provider of energy supplies. He or she will have to build sources within governments with a history of opaque decision-making and corruption, formulate pitches for enterprise stories and deliver crisp copy. Based in Warsaw, the job is an opportunity to develop richly-illustrated multimedia stories on such issues as the impact of logging in ancient forests, industrial degradation and the shrinking water supplies.
