Reuters is looking a Copy Editor for the French-language team in our Gdansk newsroom. The successful candidate will be part of a team that covers French companies, writes and translates key economic, business and political news for a French-speaking audience. He/she must have excellent translation and editing skills, solid news judgement and a sharp sense for what coverage will resonate with a French audience. Trading desks, hedge funds and asset managers at major multinational banks use subscription-based Eikon terminal to get fast & accurate information to base their investment decision. Your stories for Reuters will also be seen by our media clients, on Reuters.com and other extensions available to read for everyone. Reuters news and information reaches one billion people every day.
In your role you will be responsible for:
Writing, editing and planning coverage of French companies in French
Editing, crafting and honing English-to-French translations that span geographies, industries and markets
Identifying market-moving figures and comments most relevant for French speaking audience and publishing real-time news alerts in French
Covering econ data indicators for France in English and French
Training, providing feedback to other reporters and translators
Cooperate daily with international news service for French companies
Cooperate daily with the French Hub & markets reporters based in Paris
Work closely with the management of the French wire in Paris to ensure a strong coverage & a high quality production
About You
Qualifications - What do you need to bring?
At least two years of experience as a professional news translator/editor
Solid knowledge of worldwide macroeconomics, financial markets and corporate activities
A good command of glossary on companies' results
An ability to judge what news is relevant for French clients
A willingness to learn and an ambition to build skills and take on greater challenges
Fluent written and spoken French, with excellent spelling, a good command of English
Resilience in high-pressure situations
Willingness to work as part of a team
