Correspondent

Reuters is seeking a highly motivated news reporter who can analyse global trends and their impact on the Japanese economy. The successful candidate will provide in-depth analysis of complex macroeconomic trends and deliver high-quality insights.

The role requires the ability to explain how global structural changes, such as the Trump administration's policies, global commodity price trends, major central banks' monetary policies, and geopolitical risks affect the Japanese economy, and to deliver timely reports to readers.

About the role

In this opportunity, you will:

Research and write analytical articles on the implications of global events for the Japanese economy through interviews with officials and experts.
Analyse, interpret economic data and assess its potential influence on Japanese government and Bank of Japan policies, and produce commentary based on the findings.
Develop and maintain a network of sources and contacts in the economic and financial communities.
Coordinate with external columnists, including content planning.

・経済データを分析し、政府や日銀の政策に対する意味を分析して記事化する。

・週１本のペースで外部コラムニストの論説を配信します。コラムニストとコラムのアイデアを議論します。

About you

To be considered for the role, you will have:

At least 5 years of experience as a reporter or editor.
Ability to write professional news articles in Japanese.
In-depth knowledge of economics and finance, preferably with experience covering Japanese economic agencies or the Bank of Japan.
Interest in global affairs.
English communication skills.
Ability to collaborate smoothly with colleagues.
