Poland Political & General News Correspondent

New Posted 28 November 2023 | Remote | Reuters

Reuters is looking for an experienced journalist to lead political and general news coverage in Poland. We want a versatile reporter who is comfortable covering breaking news as well as developing insightful and exclusive stories.

About the Role

The reporter would start just after the country’s political opposition have won a momentous election, putting them on course to remove the nationalist Law and Justice party from government and potentially reframe Poland’s relationship with the rest of the European Union. The role also comes while Poland is adjacent to Europe’s deadliest conflict in Ukraine since World War II.

The successful candidate will have a proven record of developing sources at all levels of government and cutting through spin to lead the news agenda. He or she will have an eye for telling detail that can bring to life stories about social change, and who can write about the complexity of domestic politics with authority but without losing sight of the needs of an international audience.

Beyond a strong journalism track record and the ability to write in English, the job requires good organizational and multitasking skills. The reporter will work closely with a team of breaking news reporters across central Europe to ensure Reuters is competitive in terms of speed. He or she will participate in occasional afterhours duties which can include covering macroeconomic and corporate news. At least three years in journalism is required.
