Reuters Video news is looking for a versatile and creative news producer for a TEMPORARY role in our busy Washington D.C. news desk. The job term is six months.

We are looking for a candidate who is obsessed with news - from local to international - and comes armed with top notch story ideas, as well as a readiness to turn out fast and accurate video edits for our global client base. You must be willing to work as part of a 24/7 rotating shift system. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interest in a broad range of coverage - from U.S. politics to international relations, social issues and climate themes, extreme weather and natural disasters.

About the Role

As a trusted Video Producer at Reuters, you will:

Produce, edit videos, and write accurate news stories under time pressure both in the field and in the office.
Research and pitch story ideas which work well for broadcast and digital platforms.
Work as part of a team covering events starting from the planning phase through to field work.
Swiftly and accurately respond to breaking news.
Readiness to shoot video and stills when necessary and provide on-the-scene reporting to colleagues in text reporting roles.

About You

To become a Reuters Video Producer, you should have:

Excellent news judgment, an eye for visual stories that connect with people, and passion for breaking news.
Experience in producing, editing, and writing news stories with strong technical skills.
A willingness to work unpredictable hours, weekends, and travel on breaking news stories if required, often at short notice.
Have a clear understanding of the news video needs of major broadcasters and digital clients.
A strong interest in video storytelling that works for both broadcasters and digital platform and an understanding of social media consumer appetites.
A passion to learn new skills and adapt to new tools and technology.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Reuters and the NewsGuild of New York, CWA Local 31003, AFL-CIO.
