Reuters Video News is looking for a dynamic and talented videographer/producer to join our visual team in Brussels, for a five-month contract.
This is an important role in a key bureau and we are looking for a videographer/producer with at least five years of experience, who is eager to take on new challenges to help drive our daily coverage and be part of a high-profile, high-performing team responsible for covering news and features in the Benelux countries.
The successful candidate should have strong English language and scripting abilities, and able to speak, read and write French and or Dutch to a level he or she can work independently on the news desk.
Working closely with visuals and multi-media teams in Paris, Brussels and Geneva, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing, filming, editing, writing, planning and working on news and feature stories - with subjects ranging from politics and social movements to the impact of climate change.
You will be a proven self-starter with excellent communication skills, an unflappable temperament and have the ability to build a strong rapport with colleagues in the bureaux and in different services, such as Sports, Showbiz and Innovations.
You should be resourceful in seeking out sources for newsgathering, and creative in coming up with feature ideas, having a strong grip on what's buzzing on social media.
The video news industry is going through a period of significant change, largely driven by the rapidly changing habits of news consumers and ever changing technology.
The successful candidate should be very customer-focused and able to tailor content for Reuters clients in the growing digital sector as well as existing broadcast news customers. A passion for newsgathering and visual storytelling is a must. This role demands flexibility and involves working some weekends and public holidays.

About the Role
Produce, film, edit, write and deliver a story from both office and field
Coordinate news coverage with colleagues on the London and Paris desks and with photographers and video journalists in the field, when needed
React fast to breaking news, monitor social media and source third-party content
Thorough understanding of the latest digital visual technologies for editing, transmitting and sharing
Meet tight deadlines in a Direct Inject bureau.
Monitor news bulletins and coordinate with local channels for uppicks and, if necessary, live coverage
Create Newsplanner entries, and send live offers to London desk
About You
At least 5 years of experience working as a desk/field producer and editor
Excellent English writing skills
Fluent French and or Dutch in writing and speaking
A track record of working with multi-media teams
Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines, many times unsupervised
Strong planning and prioritization skills
Strong and clear communication skills, both with colleagues and clients
Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities
