Business Reporter

New Posted 13 October 2023 | Richmond, Virginia | Richmond BizSense

RichmondBizSense.com - Richmond, Virginia's homepage for daily business news - is looking to add another savvy reporter to our thriving newsroom. You'll be joining an exciting media company with a 15-year track record, passionate editors, competitive reporters and a loyal, growing readership.

The right candidate will be able to produce tightly written, local business stories on a daily deadline on some of our more seasoned and interesting beats, including startups, breweries, nonprofits, publicly traded companies and more.

Basic qualifications:

- 1-3 years of reporting experience, primarily hard news (willing to consider less experience for those who impress us)

- Proven ability and/or the desire to learn to dig up stories through old-fashioned source work and documents (new business licenses, legal filings …)

- Clean and crisp writing style

- A natural curiosity and a fierce competitiveness. You don't need an MBA to be a business reporter, but you must relish breaking a scoop and hate the taste of getting beat by a competitor.
