ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Shoots and edits spots and full programs while following PBS, NPR, and FCC technical standards.
Acquires and analyzes data sets to identify and generate original content of importance and impact in our community.
Solicit and vet tips and story ideas to prioritize original, timely and data-driven content with broad value to the audience.
Work closely with management, journalists and legal counsel in creating accurate, well-documented, bulletproof content.
Vets all resources with journalistic integrity. Ensures quality control and editorial integrity of assigned productions and projects.
Proficient in camera gear, audio systems, and lighting.
Supervises editing, delivery, and distribution of segments, shows or other content.
Ensures that content rights and releases are acquired as necessary for assigned programs.
Other tasks as assigned and/or required.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ALL JOURNALISM TEAM MEMBERS

Attends weekly content meetings providing useful input and story ideas.
Responsible for daily production of responsive content and special project work when required (one or more story assets per week).
Shoots, edits, and/or writes content for multiple platforms of RMPM to help further the mission of creating a Colorado where everyone is seen and heard.
Engages with communities in Colorado to create an open door for content. Meet with community leaders to listen to and hear story ideas. Represents RMPM at community events.
Uses solid news judgment with the ability to see and recognize stories. Stands up for journalistic integrity.
Actively participates in RMPM's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training program. Uses key standards and teachings of DEI training when producing daily responsive content generation.
Ensures productions meet PBS and FCC technical standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with strong evidence of achievement is required.
Must possess exceptional storytelling, videography and editing skills, with a minimum of three years' experience in a broadcast news environment.
Possesses proven skills and abilities as an innovative and effective storyteller.
Works responsibly within an established budget.
Exhibits extensive experience with troubleshooting and addressing equipment failures. Possesses the ability to perform light maintenance and repairs on field equipment, including both audio and video.
A mix of demonstrated skills, abilities and knowledge may be considered in place of educational requirements.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to work both independently and as a collaborative and productive team member.
Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally and productively with people at all levels.
Must possess exceptional time management, decision making and organizational skills.

Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable MVR; must be insurable for driving station vehicles.
Fluency in Spanish (verbal and written) is a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position works primarily in office, studio, editing, and field environments. This position must be able to work a flexible schedule with occasionally long hours including some evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel throughout the state and beyond, on occasion.
