Great West Media is looking for a reporter to join our award-winning team

Are you a naturally curious self-starter who loves to get to the bottom of a story? Do you love breaking news and diving deep into long features?

The award-winning Great West Media newspaper chain is looking for a rural Alberta reporter to track patterns and write about trends happening in city council’s and municipalities across the province. The position doesn’t cover just one council, but rather keeps an eye on municipalities all over the province.

This position runs for one year with the possibility of renewal. It is part of the local journalism initiative (LJI) program. The LJI program requires all of a reporter's material to be published through the Canada Press portal and news organizations across Canada have the ability to run LJI stories in their publications.
