The Role: The Agriculture Market Reporter (Associate Editor, Rice/Grains) is a reporter whose role primarily focuses on assessing a representative daily (or weekly) price of a specific commodity, in this case rice/grains. They do this by gathering information from a range of contacts involved in these markets. They will also write news and analysis about the international rice market/European, Middle East and African (EMEA) grains market. The rice team assesses prices for and reports on all of the major origin markets, including Thailand, India, Pakistan, Vietnam, the US, South America and Italy. The grains team focuses on the Black Sea region, assessing prices for corn and wheat out of Ukraine, Russia and Romania, as well as covering market developments in Europe more generally.

Responsibilities: The Agriculture Market Reporter (Associate Editor, Rice/Grains) is responsible for every aspect of price reporting. This includes talking to market participants from all over the world in a highly international-facing role to collect market and pricing information. They must research and write news articles and analysis on major market events. They must publish price assessments and commentary about the market and contribute to methodology development.
