The Team:

The successful candidate will be part of a global team, based in S&P Global’s Houston office

Responsibilities and Impact:

The successful candidate will be part of a global team and possess knowledge of market intelligence-gathering and assessing commodities prices. This individual must be comfortable writing about pricing information and interpreting data. The finalist will be considered a subject matter expert in the industry; be able to master the challenges of covering metals markets on a daily basis and be a team player. Furthermore, the successful candidate will understand the relationship between the physical and derivatives markets for metals.

The candidate may be called on to assist with creating or editing content for other Platts metals publications, as well as to work with other members of the team in a mentoring capacity – coaching on source development, price reporting, commentary and rationale writing and analysis of trade and market data. This individual also may be called on to complete note reviews and other tasks related to management of the US nonferrous metals team.

Produce price assessments and report on US aluminum and nonferrous metals markets
Write market analysis, generate graphics and publish data explaining market trends and price movements
Manage and build database of contacts
Identify opportunities to improve methodology or launch new assessments
Participate in conferences, webinars and produce digital content
Develop and expand coverage of the global metals sector, including collaborating with senior colleagues to identify opportunities for refining metals methodology
Liaise with carbon-accounted metals team members to accelerate assessment offerings and coverage
Serve as point of contact for internal and external audiences in providing context around the copy, graphics and data we publish

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of Platts approach to pricing commodities and covering commodities markets
Proven reporting/writing/editing/analytical experience assessing commodities pricing and markets
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
Excellent spoken and written English skills
Analytical ability and comfortability with numbers
Superior communication skills with the ability to converse articulately across a wide range of groups and personalities, internally and externally
