S&P Global Platts is seeking a reporter who will take on the responsibility for day-to-day reporting on European power markets in Europe. Regional in focus, but with a global context and exposure to generating fuel markets, energy security, renewables, and government policy.

The Team:

The Electricity Power team is an integral element of the Generation Fuels sector in our Established Benchmark Group. Working closely with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners we are building next generation market reporting in energy markets globally.

Responsibilities:

Cover all aspects of market reporting on European Power markets through communicating and engaging with market stakeholders, gather market information and analyze trade flow and activity.
Work in the pricing team to make price assessments and publish them, adhering to methodology and editorial standards through writing rationales, market commentaries, and publishing alerts/’heards’ as required.
Liaise with colleagues in news and analytics, collaborate on market stories and provide relevant pricing data and market information.
Attend industry conferences and events to engage with industry participants and report news, as required.
Research and collaborate on methodology change projects with internal stakeholders as required and advocate and explain externally Platts price assessment methodology and role in markets.

Essential Skills Desired:

BA degree or higher Flexible approach and excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with a wide range of role types and personalities, internally and externally
High intellectual curiosity with a self-starter mindset, effective problem-solving skills, and ability to perform well to tight deadlines
Excellent English writing skills
Culturally and socially sensitive
Reporting/writing/analytical/editorial experience
Experience or knowledge of the energy/commodity sector
Keen interest in finance, business, markets, and knowledge of economic principles
Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
Strong numeracy skills including ability to understand the basic principles of statistics and to apply basic math functions in excel
Strong team collaboration and development, as well as personal accountability.

Additional Desirable Skills:

Direct knowledge of the EMEA power and renewable markets is an advantage.
