Engagement Reporter

The San Francisco Chronicle newsroom is looking for an ambitious, versatile journalist to join our engagement reporting desk. Our coverage explains what’s in the news, helps our readers make decisions, and brings them unique perspectives on the topics they care about most. This reporter’s coverage will include explainers, how-tos and service journalism and data-driven stories on a wide range of topics, from COVID to housing to climate. They will use the digital-first story formats that make information easily digestible and accessible to readers and will use audience data, insights and engagement across digital platforms to inform their choices and to find the topics that will resonate with a broad range of readers. We’re seeking a self-starter with high standards who can collaborate well, has excellent communication skills, is comfortable providing and taking feedback, and wants to help our readers solve problems.
