Senior Copywriter

New Posted 3 January 2024 | London, England, United Kingdom | DUAL UK

From day one, our mission has been to create an independent business with a unique culture - one that is controlled by the people who work for it. Finding the most talented and entrepreneurial people has always been key to our success.

People come to Howden for lots of different reasons, but they stay for the same one: our culture. That's what sets us apart, and why we nurture and retain the best talent in the market. Whatever your priorities - work/life balance, career progression, sustainability, volunteering - you'll find like-minded people driving change at Howden.

The Role

We're looking for a fun, ambitious, and gifted senior copywriter/editor to help elevate the DUAL brand. You'll be instrumental in landing our new tone of voice throughout the business, via guidance, education and creating style guides where relevant.

Being a global business means we speak in multiple languages; whilst work will be executed in English, you will trouble shoot local nuisances which need more attention and thought, in conjunction with the Brand manager. Where appropriate you will also work with the Brand Manager to translate documentation via third party translation service, or work with local teams to translate the content in house and making sure it's uploaded to Workplace and Canto as appropriate.

You'll will also write content for key brand assets which will be templates for local and functional teams to take and use as a baseline for brand updates. You will work in collaboration with Design to ensure content and copy sits correctly within documents, making it impactful and relevant.

Copywriting and tone of voice are new specialisms to the business, and with this you will need to be considered in how you approach your work.

You'll be able to juggle the demands of being both a writer and editor on the project - and be able to think big, present to different audiences and be creative!

Working quickly and efficiently, you'll pitch in with ideas on how to land our Tone of Voice to 1,500 international colleagues within a short period of time.

Always hands on, learning as you go, this unusual role will be perfect for someone looking for a challenge. You will work alongside a variety of teams and people but will also sit within a project team.

Start date: circa Feb 2024 - Dec 2024 FTC

Location: London

Team: Howden Brand and Creative

Project Area: Brand Project

Key Responsibilities

Lead on embedding the tone of voice within the business, running workshops where appropriate, you will work closely with the Brand Manager on this.
Being the key point of contact to answer any tone of voice or messaging questions on a daily basis.
Work with the project team to ensure the integrity of the brand is met at each stage of the project.
Write, edit and amend communications on key brand assets, as directed by briefs.
Ensure key messaging is prominent in brand asset templates where applicable.
Proofread and edit copy (yours and others) - your role will be pivotal in reviewing key brand assets to guarantee tonal consistency.
Help maintain a consistent brand voice for DUAL - making suggestions for improvements/tweaks to any new style guides as you go, and creating additional style guides where needed.
There will be many communications to update, re-write or tweak - so you'll need to create a system which enables you to guide teams on how to apply tone of voice to content, troubleshooting areas which need support, and balancing the educating of the business on the new tone of voice.
Closely collaborate with any other content teams or writers within the business, building a community to drive copy excellence.

With 15,000 global colleagues and a partner network spanning more than 100 territories, we are the largest independent insurance broker in the world. But our values haven't changed since day one, when we set out to create a company grounded in:

An employee-ownership model
Aligned external investors
The trust and integrity born of friendship
