Job Summary:
Senior Technical Writer is responsible for planning content of Instructions For Use (IFU) and all related product labeling. Writes, revises, and submits for release both printed and electronic IFUs for ZOLL’s resuscitation products. These products include professional defibrillators, automatic external defibrillators, ventilators, circulation units, and accessories.
Essential Functions:
Works in lead role to research user tasks, product features, and conceptual information using engineering documentation and hands-on operation of prototype hardware and software.
Writes and revises specific IFUs and develops supporting illustrations that describe how to use ZOLL’s resuscitation products. Organizes the content in a clear and concise manner.
Considers the localization of content when planning IFUs
Collaborates with product development, quality assurance, usability, regulatory affairs, technical service, and marketing organizations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of IFUs.
Verifies that IFUs are reviewed, approved, and released in conformance with ZOLL’s standard operating procedures.
Provides mentoring to less experienced writers.
Skill Requirements:
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to quickly learn the use of new products and technologies.
Must be a team player with effective relationship and team-building skills.
Required/ Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in relevant subject, such as English or Communications.
5 to 10 years' experience as a Technical Writer, or completion of Technical Writing degree or Technical Writing certificate program plus 3 years' minimum Technical Writing experience.
Competence with broad range of industry-standard publishing tools such as FrameMaker, InDesign, and Illustrator. Experience with single sourcing tools such as MadCap Flare is desirable.
