Senior Writer – Sports Betting
Zealium Media is a digital media owner and performance marketing business, focussed primarily on the esports and sports industries. Whilst we’re a young company, our founders have decades of experience marketing in highly competitive verticals online and we know what it takes to win.
After the successful launch of our primary esports asset – thespike.gg, Zealium Media is now in the process of launching its first sports based asset and are looking for an experienced writer with a deep knowledge and passion for sports betting and sportsbooks.
About the Role:
The Senior Sports Betting Writer at Zealium Media will be responsible for delivering high quality, engaging content with a primary focus on reviews and features surrounding the experience of betting on sport.
As with everything we build, we expect our content to stand out from the competition and this role will be critical to innovating on how we merge data with world class copy and bespoke integrations, to create truly un-skippable content.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with the SEO team to create high quality, engaging content driven by keyword research
Ideate with the digital PR team, to create content for outreach purposes
Creation of features around their sports betting experience
Write high quality reviews and comparisons of sportsbooks
Ensuring our Sportsbook news is amongst the first to release to market
Ideation for innovative data visualisations which set our content apart from the competition
Review and edit content to ensure that it adheres to our editorial guidelines
Required Skills & Experience:
You should be a Sports Journalist / Senior Sports Reporter / Multimedia Sports Reporter / Journalist / Copywriter / Digital Journalist or similar with a CV that demonstrates the following.
First and foremost you must be a huge sports betting fan! Your writing and editorial skills are very important, but unless you eat, breath and sleep sports betting then this role isn’t for you.
Must have worked within SEO requirements
Ability to understand keyword research and use of keywords semantically within the articles written
Ability to deliver vibrant, absorbing, clean copy to tight deadlines
Ability to work self-sufficiently and generate fresh ideas for this web production role
A keen eye for photographs and use the best images and videos to help a story drive traffic
Must have solid newspaper, magazine or news website experience
Must work productively within a team environment
Experience of working online and knowledge of SEO best practice, while understanding the role social media plays in selling and presenting content.
You are an active and motivated person.
Any experience with sports analysis is an advantage.
You are curious, outgoing, and like to solve problems.

Desired Skills and Experience
We are looking for candidates with an advanced degree in mathematics/economics/ finance or business and/or experience in specialist function in cybercrime or management information systems.
Minimum of two years of work experience dealing with fraud or risk controls, electronic payment fraud or credit risk operations.
Detail-oriented individuals with demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to recognize non-obvious systems activity patterns.
Data proficiency and ability to manipulate and work with large volumes of loosely structured data and multiple data sources.
High level of competence with statistical and analytical tools like SQL, SAS, VB Scripting, Excel to build impactful and quantifiable recommendations.
Qualified candidates familiar with bank/financial service industry are highly preferred and specific online payday loan experience is essential
