The Serious Eats Editor will oversee the site’s quality standards and updates processes, as well as edit and write new content. Their focus on updates and standards ensures all domains are as up-to-date and in line with current editorial and culinary practices as possible. They work with contractors as well as with the editorial team to uphold those standards on both existing and new content. They’ll also top-edit and write new content and conduct culinary accuracy checks.

This detail-oriented individual will have culinary expertise, a strong knowledge of SEO best practices, strong editing skills, as well as a firm understanding of our style guide and AP Style. This individual will ensure that we meet our quarterly goals to keep our library fresh. This role reports to the Senior Editorial Director, as well as works with the culinary team on editing and writing new content.

About Your Contributions:

Maintain monthly editorial updates lineups and schedules while consulting with editorial, art, production and advertising departments.
Manage updates projects, working with our Food Vertical Project Coordinator as well as editors on more detailed updates to maintain the brand’s high standards of quality.
Maintain and enforce editorial and visual style for the brand. Ensure all digital content meets SeriousEats.com’s publishing standards for tone, sourcing, and accuracy.
Write and produce new content in-house, combining data and keyword tools with strong editorial judgment to identify areas of coverage.
Top-edit new content and perform culinary accuracy checks.
Track the competitive landscape, analyze trends and identify opportunities within the space.

About You:

3+ years experience writing, editing, and curating digital food/drinks content for a large digital publisher.
Well-versed in content management systems, web production and analytics tools, and experience using data to inform and develop digital strategies.
Proactive, collaborative, positive, and flexible team player willing to work cooperatively within editorial and other departments to find solutions and achieve goals.
As comfortable tackling smaller line edits and accuracy as you are editing for tone and clarity in line with an authoritative style guide.
Consistently up to date with industry trends, and intuitive understanding of what will resonate with our readership.
Experience in the application of SEO best practices in the ideation of stories, headline creation, and technical production.
Detail-oriented and deadline-focused with top-notch editing and proofing skills.
Strong copywriter, capable of writing engaging, lively headlines and blurbs.
Passionate about storytelling, food (and food science!), drinks, and the overall culinary world, and a desire to showcase to readers the amazing and interesting things happening in our space. You simply love to eat and talk about the things you love eating!

Pay Range
Salary: $54,320 - $77,600
