We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Editor to join the Newsroom in Perth in a casual capacity approximately 1-2 days a week. This position is primarily responsible for quickly and accurately editing news stories for all Perth News broadcasts and other locations as directed. The position liaises closely with Producers and Reporters to achieve the required on-air look for metropolitan television. To be successful you will demonstrate a dynamic work ethic, high degree of creativity coupled with fast and accurate editing skills to meet daily deadlines. The successful candidate will have the ability to accurately edit news stories for News broadcasts whilst achieving the required on-air look. You will have demonstrable skills with non-linear editing using Quantel editing systems and will be proficient in video effects. You will also need to be efficient, enthusiastic and thrive in a challenging and demanding work environment that is committed to breaking news and putting to air the best bulletins in Perth. You will also be capable of developing strong working relationships with reporters and producers, with the ability to work with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be adaptable to the fast changing media landscape and be willing to learn new skills and take on new challenges as they arise. The successful candidate needs to be flexible with working hours to accommodate our early to late news bulletins and occasional extra shifts to cover leave.
