Simon Element is looking for an Assistant Editor with an interest in nonfiction and at least two years’ experience in editorial, though other publishing experience is valued and will be considered. The responsibilities include reviewing manuscripts (previous editing experience highly preferable); helping to scout for potential authors of nonfiction and take leadership over a handful of titles per year; managing production processes for multiple books at a time; writing and preparing sales materials; communicating with authors and agents, by phone and e-mail; and general administrative duties.
Must be a detail oriented, independent worker, be comfortable working confidentially and professionally with a group of dedicated people and have their finger on the cultural pulse. Experience with 4c books is a plus.
