We’re seeking a seasoned Senior Editor to oversee the development and execution of high-quality editorial projects across both digital and print platforms. This role requires a sharp editorial eye, deep story instincts, and a strong network of freelance writers. You'll bring a modern, forward-thinking editorial sensibility and a commitment to content that informs, inspires, and connects with diverse audiences.
Responsibilities:
Commission, shape, and edit stories and editorial packages from concept to completion, ensuring all content meets editorial, stylistic, and factual standards.
Help develop new series, features, and thematic packages that reflect a broad range of voices and perspectives.
Maintain and expand relationships with a wide network of contributors, with a focus on supporting emerging talent and underrepresented voices.
Work cross-functionally to manage workflow logistics, coordinate production timelines, and ensure all content is delivered on time and within scope.
Collaborate with internal teams on contracts, schedules, and various administrative tasks tied to content development.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 6+ years of editorial experience, with a clear track record of increasing responsibility in digital or print media.
Excellent editorial judgment, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
Demonstrated expertise in topic areas such as science, history, archaeology, medical science, or innovation.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cross-departmental collaboration, including teams in communications, marketing, or business operations.
Track record of growing audiences and broadening reach across digital and print platforms.
Familiarity with editorial tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, K4/InCopy, and Airtable (training provided if needed).
Strong interest in storytelling related to the natural world, human history, or scientific discovery.
Comfortable working in a remote, deadline-driven environment and adapting to new tools quickly.
