What you’ll be doing
As Staff Writer at Space.com you'll be responsible for creating new articles in Vanilla, Future's content management system (CMS), and raising and flagging problems in the CMS, finding and editing images for new articles, galleries and features, and verifying image licensing, and sending out our daily newsletter, and managing push notifications.
You'll be curating the homepage and carousel, uploading video to our in-house video player system, identifying and updating older articles to best practice SEO and EEAT, soliciting expert biographies and adding expert boxes to articles, both old and new and responding to or redirecting community emails.
Experience that will put you ahead of the curve
Being a quick learner who is comfortable with new apps and programs.
Strong sense of how to present digital articles and UX.
Experience with photo editing software.
Sub-editing experience preferred.
Fast worker and thrives on tight deadlines.
Past experience with a CMS.
Strong communication skills, and the ability to work with a global team.
Interest in space strongly preferred.
An understanding of basic journalistic ethics and best practice.
