Background: Repairers of the Breach, Inc is a nonprofit organization based in Goldsboro, North Carolina, that seeks to build a moral agenda that uplifts our deepest moral and constitutional values to redeem the heart and soul of our country. We organize, train, and work with a diverse group of poor and low wage people, activists, and faith leaders from every US state and the District of Columbia who are rebuilding, raising, and repairing the moral infrastructure of our county. Today, our movement is expanding nationally through our work on the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival (PPC). Repairers of the Breach, along with the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice, are the anchoring organizations of the PPC: A National Call for Moral Revival.

Job Summary: As the Special Assistant, Internal Communications & Media, you will join a dedicated team of activists, organizers, and communications leaders to advance Repairers of the Breach and .the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival. We work and organize alongside the nation's over 135 million poor and low-wage communities, social advocates and faith leaders to advance a moral public policy agenda that includes universal healthcare, living wages, LGBTQ justice and equality, women’s rights, environmental justice, amongst other issues.

The Special Assistant writes and prepares key messaging materials for media and digital communications work; maintains department and media calendars; coordinates scheduling and media bookings across project teams; and contributes to digital engagement and earned media reports. The Special Assistant provides support to the head of communications and works closely with a variety of stakeholders (staff, consultants, press, volunteers, vendors) on scheduling, media, and other projects.

Key Responsibilities

Research, write, and edit compelling, communications and messaging materials to advance policy, organizing, and mobilization priorities.
Write and edit media and digital marketing materials including fact sheets, online event pages, press releases, social media posts, newsletters, and web content.
Manage department inboxes and inquiries and filter requests to relevant staff.
Contribute to regular digital engagement reports, earned media reports, and weekly press clippings.
Maintain communications department calendar and coordinate media bookings.
Update and distribute weekly media interview schedule.

Requirements & Qualifications:

6+ years experience working within a communications department on both media and digital communications projects.
A portfolio of newsletters, digital content writings, and press materials.
Meticulous attention to detail with experience scheduling and coordinating across large teams.
Demonstrable experience with SEO/SEM and CRM software.
Solid knowledge of web analytics and Google Analytic tools.
Familiarity with issues of poverty, social justice movements and/or experience working within advocacy organizations or related campaigns.
Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or relevant field; or equivalent experience.
Experience with video editing is a plus, but not required.
