The TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS, an award-winning newspaper in Oklahoma, is looking for a good writer with a passion for athletics to serve as our SPORTS EDITOR. We are located in the beautiful foothills of the Ozarks in Northeastern Oklahoma, in the capital of the Cherokee Nation, with two lakes and a scenic river, as well as the fourth-largest university in Oklahoma and four high schools with robust athletics programs. The successful candidate will be familiar with all aspects of prep and collegiate sports and will be a competent writer, which means good grammar, spelling and punctuation skills. Photography experience is also required; a bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field, and/or a few years of experience in newspapers or other media, are preferred. We need a team player who is responsive to readers, as well as coaches and players. Must be able to manage stringers and organize coverage for a daily newspaper. Experience with page design, using InDesign, is preferred, but can train the right person. We are part of the CNHI group, with many newspapers across the eastern half of the U.S., so there’s great opportunity for advancement. Salary commensurate with experience; good benefits available. Send resume and at least three examples of photography and writing work to CNHI Regional/TDP Executive Editor Kim Poindexter, at kpoindexter@tahlequahdailypress.com.
