Sports Writer

The Facts, a 10,000-circulation five-day-a-week (Tuesday through Saturday) newspaper serving the Texas Gulf Coast for more than 100 years, is seeking the right person to complete our sports staff. The position is a roughly 70-30 mix of writing and page production, including game coverage in multiple high school sports, feature and column writing, copy editing and design. Proficient InDesign experience is required. The writer will work with the sports editor to budget story ideas, distribute cover among eight schools, six public schools and two private, and create content for the daily paper, the annual Football magazine and other specialty products. Working evenings and some weekend assignments is also a requirement of the position. This is an ideal position for a recent college graduate or a person at a weekly, semiweekly or smaller daily looking to move up.
