What You'll Do:
Drive News Coverage: Take charge of the Yahoo news team, providing direction and oversight to ensure the delivery of accurate, timely, and interesting news coverage.
Story Allocation and Editing: Allocate and guide the team in selecting news stories, ensuring high-quality content that aligns with our audience's interests.
Monitor and Improve News Offering: Continuously monitor and enhance the news offerings across multiple platforms, keeping a strong understanding of our audience and their preferences to drive user engagement and loyalty.
Encourage Innovative Storytelling: Foster a hands-on approach to encourage great storytelling, original content, and innovative implementations that captivate our readers.
Quality Control and Brand Consistency: Collaborate with the news team to ensure adherence to best practices in SEO, social media, and cross-platform presentation, maintaining brand consistency and quality control.
Collaboration with Content Partners: Regularly communicate with content partners, including Seven and Yahoo global, to ensure access to the best possible material for news coverage.
Staff Direction and Management: Oversee the day-to-day management of reporters, providing guidance, feedback, and conducting Quality Performance Reviews (QPRs) to drive continuous improvement and long-term growth.

What You'll Bring:
Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience working in news within a digital environment, with demonstrated leadership and management experience.
Skills and Abilities: Strong journalistic skills, exceptional understanding of digital and broadcast environments, including mobile and social platforms. Proven experience in project delivery for a daily news offering, including coverage of major events.
