Springer Nature, the publisher of Nature, is looking to recruit a Chief Editor for Nature Energy. Launched in January 2016, Nature Energy publishes high-quality research and opinion across all aspects of energy from the generation and storage of energy, to its distribution and management, the needs and demands of the different actors, and the impacts that energy technologies and policies have on societies. The journal’s scope includes both the natural and social sciences and economics.
To help realize this exciting vision, we require an ambitious, dynamic Chief Editor, who will help further establish and maintain Nature Energy as the leading publication in the field. Working within a dynamic editorial and publishing environment that also includes Nature Climate Change and Nature Sustainability among others, this demanding and stimulating role calls for a keen interest in the practice and communication of science.
Role Responsibilities:
Leading an editorial team and working closely with them on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, commissioning, and editing of Reviews, Perspectives, Comments and News & Views, and writing for the journal. Ensuring all content published in the journal is of the highest quality and covers the spectrum of research in the journal's scope. Developing the journal’s content in ways that are appropriate to the audience, that will strengthen its impact, and that will support the Nature Portfolio’s strategic aims. Liaising with the scientific community through institutional visits and international conferences — willingness to travel is essential.

This job is offered on a full-time, permanent basis.
