The Collections Management and Acquisition Team is a division within the Publishing Performance & Intelligence group providing expertise and dedicated resources to support the growth of commissioned content across the SN Journal portfolio.

About The Role

As a Managing Editor, you will work in collaboration with various teams, including commissioning editors, publishers, external editors, and operational partners. Your primary responsibility is to organise and oversee Collections within a Fully Open Access portfolio.You will manage multiple Collections simultaneously and serve as the primary contact for these Collections. Your close cooperation with our operational teams ensures high-quality articles and excellent support for authors.Increasing the number of commissioned articles is crucial for our mission to expand our Fully Open Access portfolios. Your role is instrumental in achieving this on a larger scale, while maintaining a strong focus on quality and author satisfaction. This role is a maternity cover fixed-term contract located in our London office on a hybrid working model.

Role Responsibilities

Effective project management of a portfolio of Collections and their submissions
Build and maintain relationships with Commissioning Editors, Guest Editors, In-House Editors and Authors as their main point of contact
Monitor Collection performance through data analysis
Collaborate with the Editorial Support Advisor team to improve response times and enhance the author's experience
Ensure a positive experience for Guest Editors to uphold our reputation as a valued publishing partner

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks at different stages
Experience in a collaborative team environment
A commitment to delivering high-quality service to customers and stakeholders
A continuous improvement mindset and the ability to learn new systems and technical processes
