Staff Writer / Photographer

- About 40-45 hours per week
- Write 7+ articles per week (3,500+ words total)
- Pitch the editor at least three new (local) story ideas per week that you will cover
- Take photos to accompany majority of stories (or make "pull quotes," fact boxes, etc. to illustrate stories)
- Take stand-alone "wild art" photos as needed — Experience with Photoshop, Lightroom or other photo-editing software is a plus
- Take photos and/or write stories for several special sections, including county stock show, National FFA Week, visitor's guide magazine, city festival, hunter's edition
- Assist with page layout — InDesign experience is a plus
- Help us meet publication deadlines (Monday and Thursday at noon)
- Some night and weekend work required
- Post breaking stories and photos to newspaper website as needed
