We’re the new Nashville Banner. We’re deliberately different: Nonprofit, non-partisan, and frankly, not interested in clickbait. We’re on a mission to tell people something they didn’t already know, and to help them understand what’s at stake for the present and future of our ever-changing city. We deliver news that inspires our neighbors to act with agency.
Do you want to join us and be part of building the new Banner? Apply today. Send a cover letter and resume with clips (or links) to jobs@nashvillepublicmedia.com.
Location: Nashville. This is not a remote position.
Beat: Statehouse reporter
Position: The Banner is seeking a driven, creative reporter to cover the Tennessee legislature, state government and politics. You’ll be our point person for one of our most important beats, providing accountability coverage of the state government and the people who run it. You’ll produce both daily coverage and longer-term pieces during the legislative session and the off season and help lead our coverage of state and federal elections. Additionally, you’ll contribute to the Banner’s other coverage, including podcasts and newsletters, and work with the Banner’s print and broadcast partners.
We’re looking for a generous teammate — we don’t have time for prima donnas — who has an investigative mindset and enjoys scrutinizing public spending and those in power. This job requires curiosity.
