States Newsroom, the nation’s leading source of hard-hitting state-based reporting and commentary, is seeking to increase its focus on reproductive rights and justice by adding two full time reporters to tell the stories of how the Dobbs decision is affecting people’s lives and to put state debates over access to services in a national context. Our National Reproductive Rights Reporters will write stories on how policy and political developments in the states affect everyday Americans and their families. Since Roe v Wade was overturned, new and newly enforceable state regulations have created a confusing legal and medical reality for people needing care as well as for their health care providers. These reporters will illuminate how this patchwork affects individuals, their families, their doctors, local economies, and other states. We’re looking for reporters with a minimum of five years reporting and/or editing experience, including at least two years covering reproductive rights and justice, sound news judgment, and ability to manage fast-paced news flow with strong attention to detail and accuracy. If you thrive in a collaborative culture, possess great news judgment, and can use your expertise to create compelling, engaging journalism, this job is for you.
