talkSPORT is the world’s biggest sports radio station and a globally-renowned digital publisher, with a social footprint of almost 10M followers.

The talkSPORT.com team spans across several departments – including editorial, social, audience and tech – and we are looking for a new Social Media Editor to help manage and oversee the scheduling and delivery of website articles and graphics across our social channels.

Your role: We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Social Media Editor who has a proven track record of driving referral traffic and generating engagement across various platforms, with experience of managing teams.

Leading our website-first social media posting, the successful candidate will be responsible for owning the website’s output across Facebook, Twitter/X, and YouTube. This will involve overseeing a small team of Social Media Assistants, liaising with the editorial team on story selection and publishing, identifying hooks within content that appeal to our social audience, and analysing real-time data to inform what to post, where, and when.

Day to day you will:

Offering guidance and support to the rest of the team in addition to managing the monthly rota

Posting and scheduling a variety of talkSPORT.com articles across multiple social platforms

Creating visually appealing images that promote and complement website stories

Working collaboratively and at speed to post breaking news and jump on trending topics

Contributing to daily article ideation sessions based on what’s trending across social media

Communicating with our video team on scheduling times to ensure there are no clashes

Monitoring traffic trends in real-time and continually feeding back any key insight or learnings

What we are looking for from you:

Essential

A knowledge of and passion for a wide range of sports and social media platforms

Proven track record of managing social accounts, preferably within the sports media industry

Experience overseeing teams and helping to direct/mentor junior members of staff

An understanding of how to optimise posts for different social media platforms

An ability to pick out bits of information within articles that appeal to social audiences

Comfortable using Photoshop and/or possessing general graphic design skills

Able to commute into our London Bridge offices at least three times a week

Strong communication skills and a real team player with good work ethic

Flexibility to work across evenings and weekends on a five-of-seven days rota

Desirable

Knowledge of US-centric sports, including American Football and Basketball

Editorial-led brain with experience of working closely with writers and editors

Data-driven by nature who enjoys analysing performance and iterating strategies accordingly
