Freelance Food Writer/Photographer

Steady freelance work that pays on time! Tasting Table is seeking enthusiastic, hard-working freelancers to join our feature team. Ideal candidates have at least three years of experience writing and photographing content for print or the web in the areas of food, cooking, and dining. We are looking for U.S.-based, creative individuals who are self-sufficient and versatile. This role is work-from-home (U.S.-based) with flexible, stable hours. This position requires the ability to produce time-sensitive reviews of new menu items and grocery products typically only available in the U.S., as well as in-depth product rankings — both with accompanying photos. Typical assignments will be similar to the following examples and applicants’ photography samples must be of similar quality:

Feature Writer Responsibilities:

Claim feature article topics from a selection of assignments
Research, pitch, and write 2600- to 3000-word articles in a custom CMS with a one-week to one-day turnaround, depending on the topic and timeliness of the article
Follow the guidelines of our style guide, editorial strategy, and publishing standards to uphold quality of content

Compensation: 8-10 cents per word, depending on the type of assignment

Experience Required:

Minimum three years editorial experience writing and/or editing
Experience taking photographs of food and/or restaurants
Experience with building content in a CMS
Familiarity with the Associated Press Stylebook
