Position Details

Tilson is looking for a skilled Technical Writer to work with Tilson's Broadband Consulting practice to undertake a variety of content-creation activities related to the development state and local broadband plans. This work involves explaining to non-technical audiences, key broadband technology and industry trends affecting the deployment and use of broadband services. The Technical Writer is responsible for working with our team of consultants to synthesize various analyses into articulate, clear, and meaningful written reports and relevant infographics. The successful candidate will also participate in assisting clients in drafting Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for various telecom related services and assisting throughout vendor selection processes as necessary.

Responsibilities

Responsible for drafting well written, organized, and clear deliverables communicating the consulting teams.
Analysis of state and federal broadband policies and programs.
Collection and analysis of broadband availability, adoption, and quality data.
Analysis of demographic data and patterns related to broadband availability and use.
Design, implementation and analysis of outreach to stakeholder groups and communities.
Analysis of state federal, and local policies and practices impacting broadband deployment, including those policies related permitting and right-of-way access for broadband infrastructure.
Development of strategies and policy frameworks for states, regions, counties, and municipalities to implement to advance broadband goals.
Advisement on digital inclusion strategies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
4-6 years of technical writing preferred.
Demonstrated writing capabilities and ability to communicate through written deliverables including supporting infographics.
Familiarity with sources of information about federal, state, and local policy, law, regulation, programs, and funding.
Strong project management skills with the ability to meet project deadlines.
Willingness to learn new skills, software, and technologies.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Proficiency in MS Office/Excel.
Valid driver's license.
Practice good judgement and take ownership in workplace safety.

This is a full-time, remote, salaried position. Evening and weekend hours may be required from time to time to meet client needs.
