KGW is looking for a news Anchor.

We are committed to innovation while producing outstanding journalism and want someone who isn’t afraid of complicated stories. Someone who will hold the powerful accountable and is excited by the power of great local reporting. In addition to anchoring daily newscasts, we are looking for someone who is calm and steady during breaking news, who develops deep sources and pitches strong stories and who embraces KGW’s community service efforts. This position includes co-anchoring half-hour newscasts at 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on weeknights. It may include other shifts and newscasts as needed based on breaking news and staffing at times.

This role is a salaried, SAGAFTRA union represented position reporting to the News Director.

Responsibilities:

Deliver news reports during daily broadcasts clearly, accurately and in a way that engages the audience.
Contribute to daily editorial discussions and work closely with producers about show content.
Be active on social media by sharing KGW stories and engaging with our audience.
Write stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
Follow current events and be ready for breaking news or interviews with newsmakers on short notice.
Represent KGW at community events and promotional shoots.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field
Minimum 5 years of professional journalism or related experience
Understand the tenets and ethics of professional journalism.
Must have excellent writing and presentation skills.
