KDEN Telemundo Colorado seeks an experienced Spanish-language digital editor to lead Telemundo Colorado's digital properties (Web/APP/OTT/Social). The right candidate is a meticulous content creator. This job entails working under pressure during breaking news situations without breaking a sweat. The Digital Editor will help augment the work of KDEN linear news reporters/producers at the local station.
Responsibilities:
Create original articles, videos, and slideshows; gather original content from Telemundo Colorado's newsrooms and curate a wide variety of stories from varied sources to publish on Telemundo Colorado's digital platforms.
Lead breaking news coverage on digital platforms
Edit television scripts and adapt them to digital platforms.
Mentor linear staff on digital platforms
Lead digital in editorial meetings
Manage content creation and editorial strategy
Work with Audience Development on social and SEO strategy
Maintain NBCU's Local legal and standards practices
Maintain the homepage carrousel and oversee the quality of the main page of the websites as well as OTT and APP and social accounts
Ensure the voice, tone, and mix of content fits with the overall editorial strategy created by NBCU Local
Collaborate in special projects such as features sections and sites' verticals
Work and maintain good relationships with the National digital team, producers, and content experts at other local TV stations.
Take direction from the News Director to get the most effective content online and collaborate with the national content center and other local markets to share stories.
Our editors must be willing and flexible to adapt to changes in their job description and responsibilities, which should always be kept within the lines of editorial duties.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Experience as an editor, senior writer, or senior producer at a news organization or blog that creates content under tight deadlines
Must be a skilled writer with outstanding communication skills
Excellent Spanish-language writing and copy-editing skills
Understanding journalistic practices and guidelines
Curiosity for content with the initiative to suggest stories with relevance for all markets
Detailed oriented
Must understand SEO practices
Must be fully bilingual (English and Spanish) for editorial purposes.
Must be flexible to adapt to changing work schedules
