Beat: The Alabama Legislature, with a focus on race and law enforcement
Position:

Law enforcement agencies at the county and small-town level in the Deep South often receive little scrutiny, despite their policies having an outsize impact on communities of color. This reporter digs deeply into these issues, with a focus on accountability journalism, while covering laws, policies and news emanating from the Alabama Legislature.

Salary and Benefits:
$50,000-$75,000
