The Associated Press seeks a talented journalist to join its Local News Success team as a localization reporter and editor. In this position, you’ll help strengthen AP’s role as a partner to its members – one that is deeply invested in their success and helping them better serve their communities. This is a grant-funded position lasting at least two years; an extension is possible contingent on funding. Responsibilities: Reporting to the deputy director of local news success, you will be responsible for overseeing and editing guides that AP produces for its national network of customers, to assist them in better covering issues for their audiences. You will produce some of these “Localize It” guides, in addition to helping with customer engagement and promotion around these guides and other localization efforts. You’ll cover AP like a beat on behalf of customers, staying on top of breaking news and long-term plans and interacting with AP editors and reporters to make sure we’re providing customers with valuable, up-to-date and actionable tools to assist them in their local coverage. In addition, you will be working with the deputy director of local news success to come up with new and creative ways to bolster our local news success efforts.
