The Associated Press seeks a talented video producer and newsroom manager who is creative, passionate about experimentation and interested in helping to lead our growing team of diverse journalists focused on digital audiences. We’re looking for an editor with a deep understanding of how video travels on social media to direct a team of social video producers who will develop video content that helps grow our audience on social platforms and guides news consumers to APNews.com. In this role, you will be based in New York and report to the deputy director of digital news for audience development and new platforms. You will build and lead a team of social video producers who create video news designed specifically to engage, inform and entertain audiences on social media platforms. Your team’s top priority will be to create video news that’s designed for sharing on social media – videos that connect with audiences online by being informative, visually stunning and entertaining. That includes live video from major events such as awards shows and political speeches, as well as the daily flow of breaking news. You will help develop and share best practices in social video among AP’s news gathering and production teams around the world. As an AP journalist, you’ll also have the ability and willingness to work at night and on weekends as coverage demands.
