The Associated Press seeks five talented and versatile text editors to join its U.S. editing desk, based in any U.S. city in the Pacific time zone with an AP bureau. You will work on a wide range of stories, from breaking news to enterprise, as a member of a newly established text production desk that publishes stories from across the U.S. After joining this dynamic and 24/7 operation, you will work closely with news managers and journalists from across the country to ensure AP content is accurate, fast, distinctive and packaged creatively for audiences around the world. Responsibilities: In this role, you will ensure that urgent news is published in the moment, swiftly guiding accurate reporting to AP members and customers. You will quickly assess the heart of a story, identifying details that need expansion or gaps that need filling, working to elevate the reporting and writing so it resonates with all of AP’s audiences. As a collaborative team player, you’ll work on a range of topics and with reporters nationwide, and may, on occasion, be called on to report breaking news from the desk. You may also be asked to find and verify important user-generated content, create eye-catching social promotion and use digital tools to present stories in unique ways.
