The Blade has an opening for a full-time City Hall Reporter to join our award winning newsroom.

Position responsibilities involve coverage of Toledo city hall, which includes a 12-member council and a strong mayor administration. The current mayor has discussed seeking a third term, which could only be done with a city charter change. Toledo sits along the Maumee River, which feeds into Lake Erie, and there is also a need for coverage of its water system and water supply. Budget reporting and the like will be involved. The reporter should be able to juggle meeting coverage, breaking news, and enterprise work as it relates to city coverage.

Successful candidates must have past newspaper experience and preferable experience covering government for a daily newspaper. Should have the ability to work in a deadline setting. Must have good judgment and be able to work with others. Accuracy is a must as well as ability to multi-task. College degree required.
