Deputy Managing Editor, New Initiatives & Talent

The Boston Globe is hiring a deputy managing editor for new initiatives and talent, a key leadership position that will play a major role in overseeing our award-winning platforms and driving innovation across the organization.

The deputy managing editor will have managerial responsibility for existing verticals while also helping to conceive future digital opportunities. These could include, but will not be limited to, geographic areas in New England, the climate crisis, sports, Boston neighborhoods, and higher education. We regard these digital initiatives as core to our future and need a strategic thinker who can also bring plans to life. In this role, the editor will work collaboratively with department heads while also having ultimate oversight of these initiatives and the journalists involved in them.
