Editorial Writer

The Boston Globe opinion section is looking to hire an editorial writer to cover higher education, health care and technology. The writer would be a part of the Globe's editorial board, which meets almost daily to discuss issues in the news, to frame ideas for editorials and, during campaign season, to interview and endorse candidates. We are looking for experienced, curious, open-minded journalists with strong reporting skills and the ability to write swiftly and with voice. This editorial writer will be expected to closely follow the latest news, controversies, innovations and debates relating to higher education, health care and technology. They will also be expected to take the lead in proposing and writing at least one unsigned editorial weekly. But the writer will also have the freedom to develop bylined essays and pursue longer-term projects. We will also encourage them to be active participants in all editorial board discussions, regardless of the topic.
