Summer student/internship opportunities in Toronto at Canada's national news agency

The process to secure a summer job at The Canadian Press is always competitive. Some of our summer students have been successful in permanent employment with us or the experience they gained led to careers elsewhere in the news industry.

Editors and news directors across the country know that even a short stint at The Canadian Press, Canada's trusted news leader, provides invaluable training in journalism.

Our summer internships are 12 weeks, beginning in mid-June 2024. It is anticipated the successful applicants will primarily cover hard news and features on the Ontario desk, with the possibility of being scheduled to work in other departments.

Qualifications:

Students and Graduates: We will consider applications from current students and recent graduates.
Experience: Previous time spent working in a newsroom as a reporter and/or editor (including student media) is an asset.
Bilingual: The ability to speak and work in both official languages, English and French, is a definite asset.
Flexible Schedule: Willingness to be flexible and be available to work evenings, overnights and weekends is essential.
Multimedia Storytelling Skills: As our broadcast, print and digital operations are integrated, candidates with experience on multiple platforms have the greatest chance of being shortlisted.
