Lee Enterprises seeks an experienced journalist and leader to lead The Citizen of Auburn, N.Y. The top editor should be a skilled editor with a digital focus and a passion for producing engaging journalism. The Citizen’s hands-on leader should be a great coach, mentor and editor who can juggle the demands of digital and print, and grow audience across platforms.

A successful candidate will have extensive management experience and a proven track record of inspiring journalists to create work of the highest caliber in watchdog, investigative, enterprise, data-based and breaking news reporting. This editor should set newsroom strategy for digital growth and community outreach. The next editor should have an eye toward mentoring news staff, recruiting young journalists and retaining top news talent.

The Citizen’s next editor should have previous experience as a top editor, city editor or digital director, with 5-10 years of leadership experience and a degree in journalism or a related field.
