Environment Reporter – Community Funded

The Columbian, Southwest Washington’s family-owned news leader, seeks a full-time community funded reporter to join its local news team covering the environment. The reporter will focus on daily and project-level coverage of environmental issues in Clark County and the Columbia River Gorge including the impact of climate change on the Pacific Northwest. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays-Fridays, with the possibility of occasional overtime, general-assignment, and weekend work. The ideal candidate will enjoy both spot news and enterprise work and regularly produce in-depth packages for A1 and online special reports.

Salary: $20.00 an hour

Preferred qualifications include:

A bachelor’s degree.
Two to three years of reporting experience for a daily newspaper.
Demonstrated ability to report and write complex enterprise and project stories.
Demonstrated experience using social media and multimedia as tools for gathering and disseminating news.
